Canvas Print General Questions

What is a canvas print?

A canvas print involves printing an image directly onto fine art quality canvas material, similar to the fabric used for traditional paintings.

Once printed, the canvas is hand-stretched over a wooden frame, giving it a clean, frameless aesthetic that’s ready to hang right out of the box.

Why should I choose canvas prints over framed art or posters?

Modern and Frameless Look
Canvas prints provide a sleek, clean, and frameless aesthetic that seamlessly blends into any decor style. Unlike traditional framed art, canvas prints don't require additional framing, giving your space a contemporary, minimalist look right out of the box.

Texture and Depth
The thickness and texture of a canvas print add an artistic quality to images, creating depth and richness that flat paper prints or posters can't match. This gives the feel of fine art gallery work.

Whether you're looking to preserve family memories, showcase your photography, or add a personal touch to your home or office decor, canvas prints are a great way to bring images and art to life.

Do canvas prints come with a frame?

Our canvas prints are designed to provide a modern, frameless aesthetic, so they do not require an additional frame.

Instead, each canvas is expertly hand-stretched around a wooden frame, creating a clean and professional "gallery wrap" finish.

This means the canvas wraps around the sides of the wood frame, leaving no exposed edges, for a sleek look that’s ready to hang right out of the box.

For those who love the simplicity of frameless art, this style works beautifully in both modern and traditional spaces.

However, if you’d like to add a frame for a more customized look, our canvas prints are compatible with most floating frames or decorative external frames that can be purchased separately.

How do you hang a canvas print?

Canvas prints arrive ready to hang.

There's no need to shop for additional frames, matting, or hardware – saving you both time and money while ensuring a seamless setup.

Durability and Longevity of Canvas Prints

Our canvas prints are archival; built to last 100+ years.

Printed with fade-resistant inks and stretched on durable wooden frames, they are designed to maintain their vibrant colors and structural integrity, making them a long-term investment for your walls or family.

Can I make my own canvas prints?

Canvas prints come in a variety of sizes and layouts, making it easy to customize them to fit any space, from small personal nooks to large statement walls.

FAQs

Customization and Design Options

Can I upload my own photo to create a custom canvas print?

Absolutely! At CanvasFab, we specialize in turning your cherished memories and favorite images into stunning, high-quality canvas prints.

Whether it’s a family portrait, a breathtaking landscape, a vacation snapshot, or even your own artwork / photography, we make it easy to create a custom canvas that perfectly fits your vision.

Here’s how it works:

Upload Your Photo: Simply upload your desired photo or artwork directly from your device.

Choose Your Size and Layout: Select from a wide range of sizes and layouts to fit your space perfectly. Whether you’re looking for a single centerpiece or a gallery wall, we’ve got you covered.

Review and Customize: Preview your design, adjust the cropping if necessary, and let us know if you’d like any additional enhancements, such as black-and-white or sepia tones.

What file types and sizes do you accept for custom prints?

To ensure the best possible quality for your canvas print, we recommend uploading high-resolution files in one of the following formats:

Accepted File Types: JPEG, PNG, or TIFF.

Minimum Resolution: For the best results, your photo should be at least 240 DPI (dots per inch) at the size you want printed. For example, a 16x20 canvas would require an image resolution of at least 2400 x 3000 pixels.

If you’re unsure about your file’s quality, don’t worry! Our system will flag any images that might appear pixelated or blurry.

You can also reach out to us—we’re happy to review your file and guide you toward the best option to ensure your print looks amazing.

What if my photo is too low resolution?

If your photo doesn’t meet the recommended resolution, our team is here to help. Low-resolution images may appear pixelated or blurry when enlarged, but there are a few ways we can work around this:

Expert Guidance: Reach out to us, and we’ll evaluate your photo to determine if it can be optimized for printing by upscaling it with software.

Smaller Sizes: Consider printing your image on a smaller canvas to maintain clarity and sharpness. For example a screenshot from a cellphone can be printed at around 12"x16".

What are my options for canvas sizes and layouts?

CanvasFab offers a wide variety of canvas sizes and layouts to fit any space or design concept:

Sizes: From small 8x8 canvases perfect for a desk or shelf to large 40x60 statement pieces, we have sizes to suit every need.

Layouts: Create single-image canvases, multi-panel designs (like triptychs), or collages featuring multiple images.

Orientation: Choose between landscape, portrait, or square formats to complement the subject of your image and your wall space.

If you’re not sure which size or layout works best, our team is happy to provide recommendations based on your photo and intended space.
